Hey, We're Published!

I am so excited! Last year, one of my good friends, Allyson Condie, who also happens to be a fantastic author (ie-Yearbook, First Day, Freshman for President), decided to put together a book of essays on motherhood from various people. I was lucky enough to be included in the mix, and the book is now available for purchase. Right now you can buy it through Spring Creek Publishing: www.springcreekbooks.com/catalog/98927.html.

It will also soon be available at Deseret Book, Seagull Book, and Amazon. Ally used these words to describe the book, "We have essays on adoption, on labor and delivery (from the point of view of a labor and delivery nurse who is also a mother), on achieving moments of zen in motherhood. We have essays on disastrous family home evening exchanges, on the joys of potty-training, on being the mom of the toddler who punches. We have essays about being a single mom, about saving the world a little at a time, and about dinosaurs and dancing and Rodin sculptures."

I have read each of the essays and I can tell you that they are all very different, but each one had elements that touched me because I could relate so well to the emotions expressed. After reading them, I felt so validated and wonderful about my often unglamorous role as a mother. My essay was inspired by my own mother and is a tribute to one of my grandmothers. I feel so blessed to have been a part of something that I feel is so worthwhile.

For those of you who haven't read any of Ally's books, I highly recommend them. She has a great talent for capturing the salient experiences that are so significant in the life of a young adult.

That's really neat! I'll have to see if I can find a copy. Who am I kidding, this is Utah. It's more a question of whether or not I get to leave the house! ;) But way cool, Jen! I look forward to checking it out.

Pam mentioned the book today after the party for Missy. I can't wait to get it and read it. I'm so proud of you. It's one thing to be a reader, and an entirely different thing to be the writer. It's hard work, and I can't wait to read your essay! I adore musings about motherhood.

Also, you guys are rockin' great bloggers ... love the videos! It's been fun to read your blog and get to know your family better. I'm grateful for your friendship and our fun and thought-provoking conversations!
