This clip is a little bit old, and those of you who have seen Audrey's blog will already be familiar with the scenario, but it may still be good for a chuckle. This is a dueling method developed by Aunt Katie. Not only is it good for a larf, it is also an extremely effective method for resolving family conflicts.
"DAAAAD!!! Lily took my Thomas train"
"No. Mine." Replies Lily.
"I had it first!"
"Alright, you can bum war for rights to the train," I wisely reply.
Yes, this may be a bit unfair to those like Lily, who are of inferior physical stature. Yes, this may mean that the largest, most aggressive member of the family is able to terrorize and rule the home with an iron arse. However, it does simplify the whole "parenting" process for me. I dare say I rule with wisdom not unlike King Solomon, but you be the judge . . .

that is so adorable! I love it!
FUNNY! That's a great way to "work it out!" And get a good laugh out of things.
Now, that's problem solving! Alec - you should try using it with students in the schools. I can just imagine...
Hmm, I like your parenting style. I might have to steal it. I can just see Jack and Elise now...and Sofie, but we will give her a few more months I suppose.
I was at grandmas this last weekend and owned all the little cousins with my bum....yeah, it was pretty bad bum! I can't wait to see those kids soon!
My kids would LOOOOVE this. I gotta try it out!
Actually I've seen this technique before; the Six Party Talks that have been attempting to resolve the North Korean Nuclear Arms crisis weren't progressing until China's delegate declared that U.S. representative Ambassador Chris Hill and Kim Jong-il put their differences 'behind' them.
That was just the politically correct way to declare a bum-war behind closed doors. If those jump suits are any indication, Jong-il would be a fierce contender, and only the land of Golden Arches could produce an equal contender.
I don't want to spoil the results; their 'face-off' should run on the C-Span2 Late Night hit, Butt-Heads of State sometime this fall. Check it out
Hey guys,
That was hilarious! With Lili starting so young, she'll be taking out Eric in no time...especially when those hips come in:)
OMG! That is just hilarious! Your kids are SO adorable.
So I've seen this bum war on various blogs now. It looks like so much fun! Maybe we should have a bum war tournament at the family reunion. Adults included!
i can't stop laughing!!! your family is too funny!
